Where are Bare Nordic products made, and where do the ingredients come from?

All Bare Nordic products are developed and produced in Sweden.

The majority of our ingredients are sourced locally, as close to our production as possible. We prioritize Swedish and Nordic raw materials, and all essential oils are sourced from Nordic plants, such as spruce.

Ingredients are selected based on function, quality and origin, with a clear preference for local, Nordic and European sourcing whenever possible.

What is tallow, and why is it used in skincare?

Tallow is a traditional skincare ingredient with a long history of use.

Long before modern cosmetics, animal fats were used to help protect and care for the skin, particularly in harsh climates.

Bare Nordic brings this traditional approach into a modern context.

Grass-fed tallow is naturally rich in lipids and fatty acids, creating a rich, skin-conditioning base for simple, water-free formulations without unnecessary additives.

It is also a resource-conscious choice. The tallow used by Bare Nordic is a by-product of the food industry and is sourced without unnecessary long-distance transport, making use of an existing material rather than requiring additional cultivation specifically for skincare.

By focusing on traditional fats and locally sourced ingredients where possible, Bare Nordic aims to create skincare that is simpler in composition, closer to its raw materials, and rooted in Nordic heritage.

What is mineral sunscreen, and what is non-nano zinc oxide?

Bare Nordic Primal Sun uses non-nano zinc oxide as its mineral UV filter. Unlike many conventional sunscreens that rely on organic UV filters, zinc oxide provides sun protection through a mineral-based formulation.

“Non-nano” refers to the form of zinc oxide used in the product. Bare Nordic specifically chooses non-nano zinc oxide rather than zinc oxide supplied in nanoparticle form.

The result is a simple, water-free mineral sunscreen made with carefully selected ingredients, including grass-fed tallow, Swedish beeswax and cold-pressed coconut oil.

This approach allows Bare Nordic to create effective sun protection while keeping the formulation as simple and transparent as possible.

Does Bare Nordic sunscreen leave a white cast?

Mineral sunscreens made with zinc oxide can leave a visible white cast on the skin, and Bare Nordic does not try to hide that fact.

Primal Sun contains non-nano zinc oxide, which naturally has a white appearance. How visible it becomes depends on factors such as how much product is applied, how thoroughly it is worked into the skin and your natural skin tone.

For those who prefer a warmer, tinted finish, Primal Sun Bronze contains organic cacao, which helps soften the naturally white appearance of zinc oxide and gives the balm a subtle bronze tone.

Both versions are designed around the same principle: simple mineral sun protection without unnecessary ingredients.

Do Bare Nordic deodorants contain aluminium?

Yes. Bare Nordic Primal Deodorants are completely free from aluminium salts and alcohol.

They are deodorants rather than antiperspirants. This means they are designed to help manage body odor without using aluminium salts to block the body’s natural perspiration.

The formula is based on grass-fed tallow, Swedish beeswax, potato starch, baking soda and magnesium hydroxide, with carefully selected Nordic essential oils used for fragrance.

Bare Nordic deliberately keeps the formulation simple, avoiding synthetic fragrance and unnecessary additives while focusing on ingredients that each serve a clear purpose.

What are Bare Nordic beeswax candles made from?

Yes. The wax used in Bare Nordic Primal Candles is 100% Swedish beeswax.

Unlike many conventional candles, they contain no paraffin or blended vegetable waxes. The wick is made from hemp and coated with beeswax.

The unscented version contains no added fragrance, allowing the natural character of the beeswax to remain at the centre of the candle.

For the scented versions, Bare Nordic uses essential oils derived from Nordic plants instead of synthetic fragrance oils.

The result is a simple candle built around one traditional raw material, with as little added as possible.

How do I use Bare Nordic sauna oil?

Bare Nordic Primal Sauna Oil is highly concentrated, so only a very small amount is needed.

Add 1–2 drops to a ladle of water before pouring the water onto the sauna stones or using it as part of an Aufguss ritual.

Start with one drop and increase to two if you prefer a stronger aroma. Because essential oils are highly concentrated, adding more does not necessarily create a better sauna experience.

Primal Sauna Oil is made with Nordic essential oils and is designed to bring the character of Nordic nature into the sauna without synthetic fragrance.

Never apply concentrated sauna oil directly to hot stones without first diluting it in water.

When will my order be shipped, and will I have to pay import duties or taxes?

Accepted Answer

All orders are shipped from Sweden with PostNord within 1–2 business days.

Estimated delivery times:
Sweden: 1–3 business days
EU: 4–10 business days
Outside the EU: 10–18 business days

For orders within the EU, VAT is calculated based on the destination country and included at checkout. No customs duties apply within the EU.

For orders to the United Kingdom, UK VAT is charged at checkout where applicable. Customs duties or other import charges may apply depending on the order value and current UK import rules.

For Norway, Switzerland, the USA and other non-EU countries, Swedish VAT is not charged at checkout. Local import VAT, customs duties or carrier handling fees may instead be charged when the order enters the destination country.

Any import charges not collected at checkout are the responsibility of the recipient.

Question 9

Can I track my order?

Accepted Answer

Orders are shipped as letter mail with PostNord. Tracking is available within Sweden, but international shipments are not fully trackable once they leave Sweden.

If your order is being delivered outside Sweden, the tracking information may therefore stop updating even though the shipment is still on its way to you.
